Cold open[]
The demons smell something edible in the air. Ground beneath them explodes as they spring toward their prey.
During the final round of fighting—Isley versus Deneve and Helen, the demons interrupt and turn the 2-way fight into 3-way chaos.[6]
Confusion[]
Deneve and Helen are bewildered by the creatures. One demon severs Helen's arm, then punctures Helen with spikes, one of which punctures Helen's eye.[7]
Dietrich[]
Rescue[]
Another demon attacks Deneve from behind. But Dietrich attacks the demon from behind in turn, saving Deneve. Dietrich tells Deneve and Helen to stay motionless. The demons sniff at the warriors, move on and concentrate on Isley.[8]
Isley vs. demons[]
Isley awakens into his centaur form. With sword and shield, bow and arrows, he attacks the demons to no avail. The demons keep regenerating, regardless of damage to their bodies.[9]
Demon
Retreat[]
The three warriors flee the village. Isley now faces the demons alone.[10]
When the warriors flee to safety, Dietrich elucidates the demons' nature—awakened beings created to fight the Abyssal Ones.[11]
From a place of safety, Dietrich reveals the demons' origin. At the start of the 7-year timeskip, the Organization experimented with the flesh of 11 awakeneds of the Northern Army that attacked Organization Headquarters.[12]
Dietrich finally names the new warriors—"Abyss Feeders."[13]
