Etymology[]
柔の剣 translates as "sword of the soft"—a description, not a proper name. VIZ Media uses "Gentle Sword." Unnamed in Italian and Spanish translations, which describe only as in the original Japanese text.[8][9]
Riful describes sword ricocheting her tentacle attack, causing them to pierce Riful's body.[10]
Description[]
Unknown sensing ability enables technique: detect oncoming attack, then deflect attack back to source.
Reminiscent of medieval deflection techniques, in which sword blows are deflected, rather than blocked in modern manner.
History[]
Audrey's Hunt[]
Riful greets Audrey's hunt.[11]
Gentle Sword
Hunt leader introduces herself as No. 3, Audrey. And the next ranking warrior as Rachel, No. 5. Rachel proceeds to use Strong Sword on Riful, while Audrey uses Gentle Sword. Riful pretends to be hurt as she tests the two warriors for sensing ability.[12]
Realization[]
Miria sees that Audrey and Rachel are no match for Riful. She orders Deneve, Helen and Clare to follow her. The Ghosts rush to save Audrey and Rachel from themselves.[13]
All attacks, including Rachel's, prove ineffectual.[14]
