An awakened hunt lead by Jean.

History[edit | edit source]

Hamel[edit | edit source]

In town of Hamel, Clare searches for Raki. She checks in at local inn. From up in her room, she watches an awakened hunt marching down the street.[2]

Despite Clare's suppressant, Jean detects Clare's presence. But Jean shrugs it off as her imagination.[3]

Next morning[edit | edit source]

Clare gets up early. The innkeeper tells her the Claymores left for the Zakol Mountains. Clare resumes her search before they return.

In town, she comes across two children arguing about a Teresa and Clare statue. The young girl tells Clare that someone, fitting the description of Raki, asked about the statue. But a fatally wounded warrior staggers into town. As she falls, Clare catches her.[4]

The warrior tells Clare that the hunt was captured. Before she dies, she realizes Clare is a fellow warrior.[5]

Back to duty[edit | edit source]

Clare asks the townspeople to give the warrior a human burial. When a man warns against going to the mountains, Clare sheds her disguise.[6]

Witch's Maw[edit | edit source]

In a castle cellar, a mysterious young girl supervises a thuggish man, Dauf, in awakening Claymore warriors. Dauf expels rods from his body and drives them into their bodies.[7]

One warrior, Raquel, lies face-down dead in the corner. The two remaining warriors, Jean and Katea, are hung by their wrists with chains strung from the ceiling.[8]

Awakening[edit | edit source]

Katea awakes, despite Jean's pleads. Dauf tests her strength, but Katea's attack on Dauf appears ineffectual.[9]

The "young girl," Riful of the West, orders Katea destroyed.[10]

Unexpected caller[edit | edit source]

Dauf senses someone's approach. Riful senses weak Yoma Energy and immediately loses interest. She tells Dauf to deal with the intruder.[11]

Outside the castle, Clare approaches the entrance.[12]
