スタフ transliterates from "Staff," derived ultimately from Old French estoffe (cloth or material).

May allude to a military staff. The France edition refers Headquarters as "Etat major de Staff,"[13] which can be variously translated as "General Staff of Staff," "State of Staff Headquarters," "Staff Headquarters" and the like.

Some scanlations confuse region of Sutafu (スタフ) with unnamed town, where Headquarters is located.

"Staff," "Sutafu" and "Sutare" are all transliterated variants of same eastern region, スタフ.

Ediciones Glénat España switches from "Stav"[14] to "Staf."[15]

Star Comics switches from "Staph"[16] to "Staf."[17]

Organization Headquarters[]

The Organization is sited in unnamed town,[18] which some translations name as "Staff." According to Cynthia, of the four quadrants of the island, the Organization controls Sutafu, rather than a Abyssal One.[19]

Sutafu resembles the US southwest (Arizona, New Mexico) and southern Spain. A Yoma-making facility exists in the mountains north of Headquarters.[20]

Despite the arid landscape around Headquarters, other towns and forest exist nearby.[21]

In vicinity of Headquarters, Rafaela passes through a Sutafu village. She overhears that Organization personnel had seized a pair of identical twin girl infants.[22] Rafaela later meets a young runaway trainee, Teresa, in the wooded outskirts of town.[23]

See Organization history.

Yuma's hometown is near Headquarters.[24]
